Psalm 119:105

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

We know our destination. God has revealed His plan and where we are headed. But we don't know what the trail looks like from now till then.

Sometimes, it's difficult to step forward into the unknown, but as we keep our eyes on the Lord and His word, as we watch the light diligently and hold the iron rod tightly, we have enough light and trust to take the next step. Step by step and line upon line we move through faith towards our eternal destination.

Psalm 127 talks about children being the Lord's reward. They are arrows in the hand of a mighty man, and "Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate."

As I ponder these verses I think of two types of parents -those who have children and those who do not. A man who has many children may not always have his quiver full, just as a man with no children may have his quiver filled to overflowing.

I knew a couple who was unable to have children of their own. The husband made it a priority to interact with all the children in the ward and be kind to them, let them feel heard.

I learned a valuable lesson from that brother whose quiver was full. We are stewards of God's children, and the most valuable thing we can give them is time. Having children is not the same as having joy in children. This message was for me as much as the individual without children.
