First we bind ourselves with the Lord through covenants, and then we cleave to Him to hold that binding tight by loving Him (following His commandments) with all our heart, might, mind, and strength, realizing that we are completely lost and fallen without Him.
Joshua 23
8 But cleave unto the Lord your God, as ye have done unto this day.
First we bind ourselves with the Lord through covenants, and then we cleave to Him to hold that binding tight by loving Him (following His commandments) with all our heart, might, mind, and strength, realizing that we are completely lost and fallen without Him. There needs to be a sense of helplessness, hopelessness, and urgency grounded in our natural state, combined with gratitude and hope for and in what our Savior can do for us, that causes us to hold fast and cleave with all the strength our soul can muster.
Failing to hold tight is falling from the Rock to an eternal spiritual death.
I am grateful for my Savior who gives me hope and a way out of the awful state of existence that I face without Him. He is my victory and my joy. I love Him.
