Sometimes we feel inadequate for the work the Lord has called us to.
10 And Moses said unto the Lord, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.
11 And the Lord said unto him, Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the Lord?
Sometimes we feel inadequate for the work the Lord has called us to. Whether it be a calling, a talk in sacrament meeting, a mission, being a parent, ministering, or keeping the commandments, we may find ourselves feeling slow to succeed, or feeling that we are not strong enough, smart enough, worthy enough, talented enough to accomplish the work at hand.
It is okay to be humble - the Lord gives us weaknesses to do that we are humble (Either 12: 27). But humility is not self deprecation. It is realizing that we need to yoke ourselves with our Savior to grow. We are heirs of Heavenly Father - His children. When we doubt our worth, we blaspheme the craftsmanship, and even more, the child of God. We tell God that what He made isn't good enough.
These two truths may seem at odds with each other but the balance between humility and diety, between not being enough and being everything, is aligning our will God through a broken heart and a contrite spirit.
