This verse beautifully shows how the Lord will deliver us from our enemy, death and sin, if we will turn away from our idols and continuously turn and return unto Him.
1 Samuel 7: 3 And Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return unto the Lord with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the Lord, and serve him only: and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.
This verse beautifully shows how the Lord will deliver us from our enemy, death and sin, if we will turn away from our idols and continuously turn and return unto Him.
I like how the verse says "prepare your heart", which makes me think of preparing an animal for sacrifice. As we turn towards our Savior and focus on repentance and becoming better, we prepare to give Him our broken heart so that He may return it whole.
