Eli, like the rest of us, was not perfect. However, we was called to be the high priest and my the power of his calling, he told Hannah God would grant her petition.
1 Samuel 1:
17 Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him.
18 And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad.
Eli, like the rest of us, was not perfect. However, we was called to be the high priest and my the power of his calling, he told Hannah God would grant her petition. Afterwards, Hannah's countenance changed. She ate and was no longer sad. She believed the words of God's anointed, had faith that his words were the Lord's, and it brought her happiness.
When we sustain those called of God, especially when we follow the prophet, we are blessed. The prophet speaks for the Lord. If we choose not to follow the prophet when he speaks by virtue of his calling, it is our Savior whose words we ignore.
