Just as Moses overcame Satan in the name of Christ, we too can overcome all things in the name of Christ.

Just as Moses overcame Satan in the name of Christ, we too can overcome all things in the name of Christ. Rarely do we need to raise our arm to the square and banish the son of mourning, but we do face temptations, negative thoughts and feelings, challenges and trials, and so much more every day. Christ can cast these out too if we always remember Him.

Why was Abraham chosen to be the father of God's chosen people? I wonder if it was less about God choosing him and more about him choosing God.

Abraham 1:2

And, finding there was greater happiness and peace and rest for me, I sought for the blessings of the fathers, and the right whereunto I should be ordained to administer the same; having been myself a follower of righteousness, desiring also to be one who possessed great knowledge, and to be a greater follower of righteousness, and to possess a greater knowledge, and to be a father of many nations, a prince of peace, and desiring to receive instructions, and to keep the commandments of God, I became a rightful heir, a High Priest, holding the right belonging to the fathers.

We can all choose to be God's people using the pattern that Abraham set forth. He followed righteousness, sought greater happiness and the blessings of those who were righteous before him, desired knowledge for the purpose of being even more righteous, wanted to receive instruction and keep the commandments, and he wanted to be a pacemaker. What a beautiful example of how to love God and be his people.
