Before we came to this earth, Heavenly Father shared his plan with us.

Before we came to this earth, Heavenly Father shared his plan with us. We all knew the plan, we knew what it required from us and we knew that it would require a Savior. The plan has been discussed and understood before He asked who He should send to carry out His plan.

Abraham 3

25 And we will prove them herewith, to see if they will do all things whatsoever the Lord their God shall command them;

26 And they who keep their first estate shall be added upon; and they who keep not their first estate shall not have glory in the same kingdom with those who keep their first estate; and they who keep their second estate shall have glory added upon their heads for ever and ever.

Lucifer understood the plan as well as Jehovah understood it, as well as we understood it. Sometimes I wonder why he rebelled, and even more why so many followed. I do not believe it's because he wanted glory, because as we see from the verses above, glory was already promised. I speculate it was because he didn't want to be proved - he didn't want to go through the crucible of life to grow and learn. Lucifer set the first recorded example of knowing the plan, seeing the path, and saying "that's too difficult, I will take the easier path". It is the first example of "my will, not thine". And his message is the same throughout all history and still today - "you know better than God, there's an easier way, that may work for some but not for me".

We are here, on this earth, because we had faith in our Savior. We knew we would physically and spiritually die, we understood the plan, we knew it would be difficult, and we knew that if our brother could not pull off the role He volunteered for, we would be lost forever. We looked at our brother and weighed the options, and while many chose fear and thought there was a better we, we chose our Father's plan because we had faith in Jesus Christ. That faith is part of who we are, and we can tap into that premortal faith when times are difficult. We looked at Jehovah and put everything in His hands, we knew He would succeed, and that same faith is the answer to our trials today - we can place everything in His hands and He will succeed in lifting us up.
