The coat of skin God made for Adam and Eve, and the garment we wear today, is symbolic of Christ's atonement, both the sacrifice and the result. Death did not exist in the Garden of Eden before the transgression. The coats of skin came from an animal, likely a lamb, and Adam and Eve witnessed the first death on earth. Imagine how emotional that would have been for them, coming from a paradisical state to see death.
The skin was then used to "cover" them. They went from being naked and unprotected on their own, to an animal sacrificing itself so they could be covered.
Our Savior sacrificed himself so that we could be covered from the effects of death and also from sin if we turn to Him. Our garments are a sacred and symbolic representation of Christ Himself and His sacrifice for us.
Knowing this, we can each decide how we feel about, treat, and wear our garments.
