The creation account in Abraham uses the word "counseled" a lot in regards to "the Gods" planning and creating everything spiritually before implementing it physically.
The creation account in Abraham uses the word "counseled" a lot in regards to "the Gods" planning and creating everything spiritually before implementing it physically. Heavenly Father surely knew what He wanted to happen, yet He allowed for us all to be a part of the planning. Rather than dictating what needed to happen, He allowed us an opportunity to learn and grow by involving us. I imagine he listened to our ideas, have praise and gentle correction where needed, and helped us come to an understanding and alignment with the plan. This is a great example of leadership and parenthood. It's a lot quicker and easier to tell those we have stewardship over what needs to be done. However, if we cultivate patience in ourselves and actually go through the planning process with individuals, it reinforces their understanding and engagement in the plan.
This is so powerful secularly, but incredibly amazing spiritually - to think that we counseled with our Heavenly Father, we went through that learning and growth process, and we realized around the plan that He lead. That level of patience, wisdom, and love is inspiring to me.
