The children of Israel relied upon the Lord for daily sustenance in manna.
The children of Israel relied upon the Lord for daily sustenance in manna. We cannot only rely on our Savior weekly, or monthly, or annually - we must partake of His manna daily, hourly. What are examples of daily manna the Lord provides to us? Scriptures, prayer, taking time to hear Him, acknowledging the daily miracles in our lives, inspiration and revelation. Are we ever spiritually starved? We must take, eat, and be nourished. The Israelites had to be humble to eat the manna, so do we have to be humble to receive. Jesus is the bread of life. We must partake of Him, His will, daily.
Numbers 21:4 "our soul loatheth this light bread" - Is our will different than the our Father's? Do we loath what He has given us? His commandments? His path? And if and when we do place our will above our Father's, and the trials of life come as they do to all who traverse mortality, we must look to the brass serpent, look to Christ and repent, humble ourselves, turn back to Him to be saved.
Loathing the bread - Do we complain, murmur? Is avoiding violent, profane, immoral media too difficult? Are garments too uncomfortable? Is church too long? Ministering too time consuming? Callings too demanding? Are our trials to heavy a cross to bear? Is it too difficult to turn the other cheek? Too much to be kind to others when they disagree with you?
If we find ourselves loathing the bread, we need to look toward our Savior and focus on gratitude. Serve our Savior by serving others. Alma 5: 26-28+ - "If ye have felt to sing the song of redeeming love, I would ask, can ye feel so now? … are ye stripped of pride?"
