Esther as a type of Christ.

Esther came from a lowly position as an orphan just as Christ came from a lowly position born in a stable.

Esther was raised by a man who was not her biological father, as was Christ.

Esther was sold to be slain, as was Christ.

Esther's people were also to be slain just as we all are in debt to sin and cannot escape on our own.

Esther was prepared to sacrifice herself for a chance to save her people, just as Christ did sacrifice Himself to save us, His people.

Esther was elevated and given the power to write in the kings name. Christ was elevated, becoming as the Father, with all the Father's authority.

The covenant people were saved because of Esther, the covenant people were saved because of Christ.

Another thought I had this morning - I wonder if the absence of mentioning God in the book of Esther has anything to do with the Jews beginning to lean more into their nationality and being chosen rather than leaning on God. We know in the time of Christ they idolized their lineage, causing John to rebuke them saying that God could raise up rocks unto Abraham.

We also know that the Jews had been in captivity for a while at the time of Esther. It is possible that the writer felt abandoned, or for some reason decided to elevate the Jews rather than God.

I don't know, but whatever the case, we must always remember to recognize the hand of God and put Him first. In doing so, we are blessed.
