A study

A study is a workbench for organizing chapters and verses, adding your own notes, and adding any analysis outputs from other tools. Each Come, Follow Me week's notes at the bottom are a study, but a study can also be standalone for a specific topic, writing a talk, or preparing a lesson. There are lots of tools in a study, so don't get overwhelmed. Play around with the features and use what you are comfortable with.

What is on this screen

  • Your studies The "studies" page shows you all of your existing studies. Studies ›
  • A study's page When inside a study, you can see all of the notes, verses, and tool outputs you've added. You can add new tool outputs in the study itself or from any of the analysis or build tools. Studies ›
  • Marking a verse Highlight, color code, and annotate each verse. There are two different note boxes per verse - one sticks with the verse everywhere, the other is study specific and only lives on the verse in your current study. You can also add a verse and/or its notes to your study notes from the "Add" menu. Highlights, colors and notes ›
  • Annotate By clicking the pencil icon on an individual verse, you can access the different markup tools for annotating a verse, including adding notes tied directly to that verse. Click the pencil above all the verses to enable or disable annotating for all verses at once. Highlights, colors and notes ›
  • Pages You can group verses into pages, which can be useful for organizing verses by chapter (for example, bringing entire chapters in and each one gets a page like in the Come, Follow Me studies) or by category, content, or however else you'd like to organize your verses depending on what you're studying. Study pages ›
  • Full screen This allows you to read the verses in full screen, which is a nicer reading experience - especially in the Come, Follow Me study when reading full chapters. Full-screen reading ›
  • The heat map The heat map is part of any study and it allows you to type in multiple words and then shows which books, chapters, and verses contain those words and where they are most repeated. You can also jump to a specific verse by clicking it in the heat map. Keyword heat map ›
  • Saved tool results As mentioned above, you can add tool outputs to a study. There are many tools, but some examples include a distribution chart showing where specific words show up in the scriptures, or a crossover analysis that shows which verses or chapters two or more words appear in together. Collections ›
  • Rename, Delete and Export These buttons allow you to rename or delete a study, or export the study to a printable format. Back up and restore your library ›
  • Share Share allows you to send the study to a friend or post it to a social feed in the Practical Gospel app. Social feed and friends ›
