Psalms 19:10 says of the statues of God, "More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb."

This will be my second time referencing Neil Diamond in a short period of time, but reading this verse and knowing his Jewish background made me realize his song "Forever in Blue Jeans" is a spin off of this Psalm. Now, he says money talks and honey is sweet but neither is as desired as simply being with the one he loves, referring to a woman - but how much more beautiful is it when we think of it regarding our most important relationship? That of our covenant relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Money talks and honey is sweet, but the statues of the Lord bring us closer to Him so that we enter into, and strengthen, our covenant relationship. Is there anything sweeter?

Psalms 20

6 Now know I that the Lord saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.

7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.

These Messianic verses point to the plan of salvation and the temple. Where are we anointed? Where does the Lord hear us and save us with His right hand?

Those who make and keep sacred covenants in the temple come to know (yada) God. That relationship, and deep covenantal knowledge, builds trust. The closer we are to our Savior, the more we can trust Him over all else in this world.

Psalms 21

2 Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.

The word "Selah" is thought to have been a literary element to cause the reader to pause and ponder in greater depth the words just read.

Our Father gave our Savior His heart's desire. What is that desire? John 17 outlines the Savior's intercessory prayer for His people. His desire is us and our happiness, and He purchased it at a great price. I love my Savior and prayer that I may always follow Him and accept His infinite gift.
