Do we consider God our friend? Do we speak to Him like a friend - expecting answers?

·1 min read

Moses 33

11 And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend.

Do we consider God our friend? Do we speak to Him like a friend - expecting answers? Sharing details of our life? Telling Him our feelings?

Later in this chapter God tells Moses He knows him by name. We've seen this pattern multiple times. He knows us intimately and the great wish of His heart is for us to know Him as well. How can we hope to know Him if we do not talk with Him? Really talk with Him. We must serve Him by serving others, for how can a man know the master he has not served (Mosiah 5: 13)?

He invites us to make and keep sacred covenants that bind us to Him and lift us up in the greatest friendship we could ever hope for.

John 15

13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

He surely died and atoned for us, and today He lives for us. He leads us, He fights our battles for us, He loves us.

We can offer Him friendship, too. As the scripture above states, it starts with serving and evolves into friendship then finally into knowing (covenant relationship, bride and groom) Him.
